The tinny voice of Mr. Worf
Grown silent now at last
Has echoed from the Christmas tree
Of many seasons past.
.
We laughed at Buddy's interest
When we'd turn on the tree
He'd always come and take a look
The curious Buddy Lee.
.
The shuttle craft has lost its voice
The micro chip is quiet.
And yet I do not toss it out
I dare not start a riot.
.
His head pressed firmly on his paws
He guards the silent tree
"Where is the Klingon warrior's voice?"
"That used to speak to me?"
.
Each morning when the lights went on
The Klingon's voice would call
And Buddy Lee would tilt his head
In wonderment and awe.
.
The micro chip inside the ship
Spoke deeply from the boughs
And Buddy Lee would come and look
To find the source of prose.
.
The Warrior's voice is silent now
Its magic has been spent
Though Buddy Lee still stalks the tree
Amid the limbs he's bent.
.
The thoughts inside my canine's head
Remain a mystery yet
The strange attraction Buddy feels
Is plain for all to see.
.
And now to find another craft
On eBay do I search
The plastic shuttle Rio Grande
Not on the planet Earth.
.
My purchase from the on-line store
With automated tracking.
Bud looks at us with pleading eyes
His Klingon mentor lacking.

Bizarre and disconnected from
The day of Jesus' birth
Yet still I long for Deep Space Nine
To celebrate with mirth.
.
I'll hope that it arrives in time
Without delay or reasons.
And pray each day that Buddy stays
To celebrate more seasons.

For he's grown old my Buddy Lee
His bright eyes now grown dim.
And Christmas wouldn't be the same
An empty day without him.
.
So hasten to me U.P.S.
Your brown truck at my door.
And let me see Bud's eyes light up
When Worf will speak once more.

- Adopting a Puppy from the SPCA - Tony finds a home.
There they were, two black Lab puppies one sleeping on top of the other. What could be more adorable? From the moment the little male puppy locked eyes with mine, I knew it was too late to turn back. We were taking home this little guy from the SPCA - Ode to Dolly, a Dog Poem
Bringing a new dog into the family is a touchy situation. Particularly when there is an older dog already in the home. We never had a moment of regret with this adoptee from the SPCA. This little Chow mix gave our family fourteen years of love an

Oh Peg what wonderful hub to a wonderful dog. That last photo of him was awesome.
I know it's awful when they pass over even though they have left us with so many happy memories.
I think this saying rings true: 'They may be gone from our homes but never from our hearts.' I bet you felt saddness but also a tinge of joyousness also.
Take care and this one has to have an awesome/beautiful and up.
That's the trouble with dogs; they just don't live long enough. But, on the other hand, we get to know more of them. I know how you feel. My once mighty mastiff, Dick, is a shuffling, wobbly old guy now... Ah, yes. May buddy find his Klingon. Lynda
Hello Peg,You shook me there when you said last christmas was his last...I feel that 'feeling' now when we think of our lost and loved pets, lovely photos of Buddy! may there be many years for your other pets, from jandee
Oh, Peggy, what a beautiful Ode to a family friend! Like Shakespeare eluded to in his sonnets, because you have written his poem, your dear doggy friend Buddy will continue to live on.
PegCole - I enjoyed this wonderfully written poem. Nice to find another friend of the breed. Your pictures are great, i could see Buddy hearing and peering!
Your old Buddy sounds like a hound dear to my own heart. I look at this old hound Elliot and don't care too much for the thought of living without him either.
Peace Peg, throughout years of seasons ... gregZ
Very clever. LOL Enjoyed. and, I love the photos of your furry friends. Happy Holidays.
What a beautiful dog he was! The pix are awesome. Our pets do leave gaping holes when they die, don't they? And a dog like your Buddy Lee can be a very special part of the family.
Thanks for sharing.
Love and peace
Tony
Nice poem from you. Thanks for writing this. I really love how you share your feeling about your dog. Absolutely beautiful indeed. Take care!
When I read, "Last Christmas was his last and we miss him so much." I had been thinking, why don't they live forever, not knowing that already he had left you.
What a beautiful boy. What a lovely and evocative poem.
I can't think of anything to say, apart from, "Thank you for a lovely hub".
Hi, lol what a great poem! and a beautiful dog, I quite understand where he is coming from, I am a great trekkie fan myself! rated up! cheers nell
Again Tears..............
Beautiful dog, lovely photos and lots of memories to hold on to. Thank you for sharing him with us. Our animals are so precious, My Bouncer is still hanging on but I am afraid not for too much longer. His breathing gets worse by the day and even the vet is amazed at his huge will to live. I am not looking forward to the inevitable.
This is a right beautiful Ode to Buddy Lee. Aren't dogs just wonderful creatures? Yes, they are. Thank you for this treasure.
I understand your love and loss.I wrote this years ago for My dog ROCKY. [THE OLD MALMUTE LOOKED UP AT ME WITH SAD TIRED EYES KNOWING THAT THIS WAS OUR LAST FAREWELL==THAT THIS DAYS WALK WOULD HAVE TO BE MADE WITHOUT HIM====SOME DAY==SOMEWARE WHEN THE SHACKLES OF LIFE RELEASE ME=THEN I WILL WALK AGAIN WITH MY OLD MALMUTE.. Thanks Peg'''I might add your hubsite has been very entertaining and fun too. THANKS and stay HAPPY.(ED.
I love your poems. I'm so sorry you lost your Dolly. Don't know what I'll do when my Dolly leaves me, I love her so.
Thanks Peg, I love my dog so much. I can't even let myself think of being without her. But I agree with you, they will wait by the gate for us.
Kay
Ah, Peg,
I know we are sisters now... your Buddy is my Alvin Wesley... and we will never stop missing our boys or remembering the love they shared with us. My wise vet / friend tells me frequently to love my fur babies each and every day I am lucky enough to have them in my world.
Your pictures are awesome-- what loved doggies and what a BEAUTIFUL Mamma!! Thank you for sharing this, no matter what the timeframe. Lotsa love, Maria
Oh yeah, Peg, my boy loved his ham, steak, would have stolen Earl's bacon right out from under him (shameless...)! But, like Buddy Lee, he had those 'big browns' that got him outta all kinds of trouble!
I am treasuring the ham truck analogy... thank you, sis!
Have a lovely night, Maria
oh, Peg. your dogs are so stinking adorable.... second only to mine. It's sad that they get old before us, but they bring us such joy

Wow or Woof! Buddy Lee is so loved, I can see. He is a majestic looking creature and I hope he is with you for a few more seasons. Best wishes of the season to you, Lee and your family.
